The Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Alberta invites applications for the position of Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE), Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD). The successful candidate will be hired as a continuing full-time Career Track Assistant Clinical/Teaching Professor in the Department.

The University of Alberta¡¯s Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, one of three departments in the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine, is among the largest speech-language pathology training programs in Canada with 10 faculty members, 7 Academic Teaching Staff, and approximately 114 students.

The successful candidate will lead the clinical education activities of the Department, coordinate activities in the on-site clinic, teach graduate course(s), supervise student capstone project(s) and participate in Department and Faculty committees. The focus of the position is managing and monitoring external placements for all students and leading the Department's strong clinical placement program, enhancing partnerships with clinical educators and agencies throughout Alberta and beyond, therefore, some minimal travel is required (primarily in Alberta).

The successful candidate must have a record of:

  • Minimum 5 years clinical experience in speech-language pathology
  • Documented experience in clinical education
  • Excellent communication and conflict management
  • Collegial/collaborative approach

Preference will be given to those that have:

  • Experience teaching in an academic setting
  • Ability to supervise research/scholarly capstone projects
  • Experience with leadership/management

The successful candidate will have a Masters or PhD in speech-language pathology and be eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists by the date of hire.? Salary will be commensurate with experience in accordance with the Academic Teaching Staff (ATS) agreement.
